About

Hermandrowning is multidisciplinary artist based in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The point of attention in creative process is the quest for new forms and a deformation of existent ones with an aim to render contemporary subject’s search of identity.

“I see the relation between individuals and their environment evolving into a process of exchange of abstractions and symbols, while the details of reality concealed beyond become rejected and gradually begin to vanish. Plots we communicate are constructed using primitive shapes describing mundane, sometimes surreal, scenes. Neither items, nor full bodies inhabit contents we aim to retell anymore - a movie is described as a work of a famous director whose name one is unable to recall, nor is it deemed relevant, yet there was a red car in it. Subjects become transparent, some surroundings go missing, visible bodily parts are distorted, storylines acquire magical quality.”

By maneuvering within levels of knowledge and practice of design, painting, object art and music, it is sought to locate and render visible the boundaries within which the details of reality begin to dissolve. Here the gloom and chaos, prevalent within collective consciousness and arts, is replaced by visualizing, by storytelling the emptiness, the blank, the partial disappearance.
